Abi’s Place is dedicated to building the skills of children with autism and complex disabilities, and creating a foundation for lifelong success. It does this through the delivery of highly individualized education, outpatient services, community involvement and family support.
Since 1956, ARC Broward has worked hand- in-hand with the community to provide the encouragement and opportunities that create life- changing outcomes so that people with disabilities and other life challenges can live, learn, work and play in their communities.
ARC Broward operates at 10 locations and provides 21 programs throughout Broward County, Florida. These include ARC Broward’s “mission-based” enterprises that provide training and employment opportunities for individuals served while generating revenue to help fund services.
The Arc works with people with all levels of developmental disabilities, from autism to severe cognitive and physical restrictions. The nonprofit works to ensure clients are progressing and developing by offering after-school programs and fitness trails to tutoring and adult employment training opportunities.
The Autism Society of Broward is a volunteer organization of parents who have children and adults with autism spectrum disorders. Though not a service provider, our fundraisers provide us with monies that enable us to assist families with support groups as well as social, recreational and educational opportunities. All of the funds we raise go right into our community-based programs.

The Brainchild Institute was created by Dr. Leah Light to meet the needs of children with Auditory Processing Disorder and sensory processing disorders as well as social and learning challenges. In addition, this program was created in response to parents’ pleas for a comprehensive neuro-developmental program that would help address the root of their children’s issues rather than merely addressing their symptoms.
Tens of thousands of children in Broward County are affected by some type of disability. Navigating the complex system of care for children with special needs can be overwhelming and frustrating. For over 24 years, the Foundation has been a leader in innovation and change, "empowering individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities." The Foundation has raised more than $53 million to create unique and impactful initiatives in the community. Among these first-of-their-kind initiatives are the Nicklaus Children's Hospital Dan Marino Outpatient Center, the Marino Autism Research Institute, Marino Adapted Aquatics, Summer STEPS Employment Programs, Virtual Interactive Training Agent Program (VITA-DMF), and now Marino Campus.
Deliver the Dream provides free structured, therapeutic, fun activities for families experiencing a serious illness or crisis. The organization does this through a three-day, two-night retreat geared toward a specific illness/crisis such as autism, death of a loved one or cancer.
Autism information of particular interest to the South Florida area, distributed daily. This is a very active List, generating 10-20 postings per day. We are an autism listserv, not a vaccine listserv. Our members are parents of children with autism, the professionals who work with them, and adults with autism themselves. Members exchange information on news, therapies, resources, events, advocacy, on just about anything concerning autism.
